The 3D Printing Industry Awards winners were announced last night at our annual event.

This year, the 3D Printing Industry Awards has returned in a digital format to highlight and champion the outstanding individuals, enterprises, and applications across our industry.  Hard-Facing Seal Materials

Voted for by our readers, the 3D Printing Industry Awards seeks to recognize the best 3D printing hardware, software, and material developments, as well as the individual people and firms that have truly excelled over the last 12 months. As ever, this year’s awards were hotly-contested, with more than 150,000 votes being cast on our shortlists. 

Held digitally, this year’s event saw over 2,000 people tune in to a live stream of the awards on the 3D Printing Industry YouTube channel.

Outstanding Contribution to 3D Printing: Sanjay Mortimer 1989 -2021

Last year the 3D Printing community lost a wonderful person, Sanjay Mortimer, co-founder of E3D Online. Our committee unanimously agreed that this year’s Outstanding Contribution to 3D Printing should recognize Sanjay’s work.

As we wrote at the time, “Sanjay was an incredibly well-loved, and inspirational leader who, together with his friends and fellow E3D Online founders David Lamb and Joshua Rowley transformed their hobby into a global enterprise. In the process, he helped create a community that strives to advance 3D printing and is spirited in sharing knowledge.

Instantly familiar to anyone in our industry, Sanjay had spent the past decade tirelessly committed to his vision of changing the way humanity manufactures goods. He was always approachable at trade shows, and I was fortunate enough to spend time with him over the years at trade shows, at formal dinners, and more relaxed lunches. 

Sanjay’s passion was clear to anyone who had the privilege to meet him. With an early career in teaching, meeting co-founder David on a training course, Sanjay never ceased to take the time to explain and share technology with others. Not only is his legacy in the company he founded, the HotEnds he developed, but also in each of the individuals he inspired to learn more or take an active role in our community.”
