Amazfit's GTR 3 Pro Limited Edition is a premium version of the company's high-end smartwatch. Here's how it compares to the standard GTR 3 Pro.

The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro Limited Edition smartwatch has been quietly listed on the Amazfit website, but what makes it different from the standard edition? As part of Amazfit's smartwatch line, the GT series is at the top. These smartwatches come with either square (GTS) or round (GTR) dials and offer impressive battery life compared to their rivals.

The topmost models available at the moment are the Amazfit GTR 3, Amazfit GTR 3 Pro, and Amazfit GTS 3. All three smartwatches were announced in 2021 and were the first to ship with the new Zepp OS operating system. This is a proprietary operating system, unlike Google's Wear OS which can be found on many other smartwatches.

Alongside the new Amazfit Bip 3 and Amazfit Bip 3 Pro, Zepp silently announced the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro Limited Edition via its US website. The new watch is mainly different from the standard version in terms of the materials used and the design. Unlike the standard version that has an aluminum case, the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro Limited Edition swaps it for hand-polished stainless steel. Since steel is denser than aluminum, it is no surprise that the Limited Edition is heavier at 40 grams (without the straps). In contrast, the standard version weighs 32 grams without the straps.

While the standard version has a slimmer aluminum unibody, the new Limited Edition appears to be made from two pieces of metal resulting in a fair amount of thickness. Furthermore, the lugs, the rotating crown, and the secondary button all have a new look. Another change Zepp has made is the color and choice of straps. The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro Limited Edition is available in Mystic Silver with a black leather strap, or in a Sleek Gold colorway with a brown leather strap. In contrast, the Amazfit GTR 3 Pro is available in Brown with matching leather strap and Infinite Black with a fluoroelastomer strap.

Save for these physical changes, the rest of the features remain the same. The display is still a 1.45-inch Ultra HD AMOLED panel with a 480 x 480 resolution and protected by a sheet of tempered glass with an anti-fingerprint coating. It uses the same BioTraker 3.0 PPG sensor which brings support for all-day heart rate tracking and blood oxygen level measuring. There is also support for more than 150 sports modes with smart recognition for eight of them, as well as stress monitoring, menstrual health tracking, sleep tracking, and a temperature sensor. Those who enjoy hiking, rock climbing, and skiing will find the barometric altimeter of the Limited Edition useful for keeping track of air pressure. It also has a five-satellite navigation system for location tracking, 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 5.0.

Like some of its other smartwatches, Amazon's Alexa smart assistant is built in, and when there is no internet, an offline voice assistant can be used for simple operations. When connected to a phone, users can pick up calls on the smartwatch thanks to the included microphone and speaker. The battery life also remains unchanged from the standard version, which means it will last up to twelve days on a single charge (or six days with heavy usage). The Amazfit GTR 3 Pro Limited Edition is already available for purchase in the US for $209, $20 more than the price of the standard version.
